Prerequisites

  • An ActiveCampaign account (any plan)
  • Admin access to generate API credentials
  • At least one list created in ActiveCampaign
  • At least one Orbit AI form ready to connect

Finding Your API Credentials

  1. 1. Log in to your ActiveCampaign account
  2. 2. Click on Settings (gear icon) in the bottom left
  3. 3. Go to DeveloperAPI Access
  4. 4. Copy your API URL (looks like https://yourname.api-us1.com)
  5. 5. Copy your API Key (long string of characters)

Setup Guide

    Get your API credentials

    In ActiveCampaign, go to Settings → Developer → API Access. Copy your API URL and API Key.

    Connect in Orbit AI

    In your form's Integrations tab, click "Add Integration" and select ActiveCampaign. Enter your API URL and API Key.

    Select your lists

    Choose which ActiveCampaign lists to add contacts to. You can select multiple lists.

    Configure tags

    Select or create tags to apply to new contacts. Tags can trigger your automation sequences.

  5. 5

    Map your fields

    Map form fields to ActiveCampaign contact properties (email, first name, last name, custom fields).

    Enable and test

    Toggle the integration on and submit a test form entry. Check ActiveCampaign to verify the contact was created.

Using ActiveCampaign with Workflows

ActiveCampaign works seamlessly with Orbit AI workflows. You can add contacts to your email marketing at any point in your automation:

  • Only add contacts to ActiveCampaign after they pass AI lead qualification
  • Apply different tags based on form responses or lead scores
  • Enrich contact data with Clay before syncing to ActiveCampaign
  • Route contacts to different lists based on conditional logic

Triggering Automations with Tags

Tags are the key to triggering automation sequences in ActiveCampaign:

  1. 1. Create an automation in ActiveCampaign with trigger "Tag is added"
  2. 2. Select or create that same tag in the Orbit AI integration
  3. 3. When a form is submitted, the tag is applied and your automation runs

Tips for Success

  • • Use descriptive tag names like "Lead - Website Form" or "Lead - Demo Request"
  • • Create separate lists for different lead sources to track performance
  • • Make sure your form has an email field - it's required for ActiveCampaign
  • • Test with a real submission to ensure contacts appear in your lists
  • • Keep your API key secure and never share it publicly
