Create leads and contacts in Intercom from your forms
Overview
Connect your Orbit AI forms directly to Intercom and automatically create leads or users from every form submission. Map form fields to Intercom contact attributes, add branded activity notes, and tag contacts for easy segmentation and follow-up.

Step-by-Step Setup
Connect Your Intercom Workspace
Navigate to Integrations in your Orbit AI dashboard and find the Intercom card.
Click Connect to start the OAuth flow. You'll be redirected to Intercom to authorize Orbit AI.
Grant the requested permissions and you'll be redirected back to Orbit AI.
Security note: Orbit AI uses OAuth and never stores your Intercom password. You can revoke access at any time from your Intercom app settings.
Choose Contact Type
Select whether form submissions should create Leads or Users in Intercom:
Lead
For visitors who haven't signed up yet. Best for contact forms, demo requests, and landing pages.
User
For signed up customers. Best for feedback forms, support requests, and in-app surveys.
Configure Field Mappings
Map your form fields to Intercom contact attributes. Standard fields are mapped automatically:

You can also map to custom attributes. If the attribute doesn't exist in Intercom, Orbit AI will create it automatically.
Configure Additional Settings
Set up optional features:
Auto-Tagging
Enter a tag name (e.g., "form-submission") to automatically tag all contacts created from forms.
Activity Notes
Enable to create branded notes on contact records showing full form submission details.
Duplicate Handling
Choose what happens when a contact with the same email exists: Update, Skip, or Create New.
Enable on Your Forms
Go to the Field Mapping tab and enable Intercom for each form you want to sync. You can customize field mappings per form if needed.
Once enabled, every new form submission will automatically create or update a contact in Intercom!
Using in Workflows
For advanced automation, add Intercom as a destination in your Orbit AI workflows:
- Only sync to Intercom after AI qualifies the lead
- Add enriched data from Clay before creating contacts
- Route to different contact types based on form answers
- Sync to multiple destinations (Intercom + HubSpot)
FAQ
Do I need a specific Intercom plan?
No, the integration works with all Intercom plans. You just need admin access to authorize the connection.
What happens to existing contacts?
By default, Orbit AI will update existing contacts with new data. You can change this to skip duplicates or always create new records.
Can I create custom attributes automatically?
Yes! If you map a form field to a custom attribute that doesn't exist, Orbit AI will create it in Intercom for you.
Are Intercom tokens secure?
Yes, all tokens are encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption. Orbit AI uses OAuth and never sees your Intercom password.
